Growing Quality Local Produce Responsibly

Welcoming Summer Apples

It is exciting to be picking our first really good eating apple of the season – Pristine.  This apple is everything those grocery store apples are not.  Including the fact that they are crisp and juicy.  Of course they are also extremely prone to bruising so we have to treat these apples as if they were made of glass.  This means each is gingerly washed and then packed rather then running them through the produce washer.  These delicious gems require some extra labor but it is worth having such a great apple in early August.

About buffaloridgeorchard

Buffalo Ridge Orchard grows vegetables, apples, and pears for local coops and farmer's markets. We have over 25 different types of new and classic apple varieties. In 2011 we installed our first moveable hoop house which allows us to grow greens and root vegetables in the winter and get an early start on tomatoes and extend the season for other vegetable crops.

Tried the Pristines for the first time. Absolutely the best! Rivals the Honeycrisp.

Is it possible to stop by the orchard to purchase some apples? I met you at the Mt. Vernon Farmers Market last winter and enjoyed your apples!
